When you live in a city like London, it can be easy to forget all the fabulous things that you have at your doorstep and never actually go and see just for that reason. After all, the Tower of London, National Gallery and Buckingham Palace have all been there for ages and will be there for many years; there’s no rush! Time drags on and on and before you know it, you’ve lived in London almost ten years and never been to feed the pigeons in Trafalgar Square or even seen a West End show.

The only time I come close to wandering into the tourist areas of town is when I have someone come visit. Even then, I usually point them in the direction of the Tube to the city centre, and head in the opposite direction to my job selling trailer insurance and only meet up with them in the evening when we hang out in my local pub rather than enjoy the night-life of Soho or Covent Garden.

Which is why my brother and I, another honorary Londoner, decided we were going to have weekend away last weekend; in London. We stayed at his place, which is in a slightly less scary area of town and got up with the lark every morning to hit the tourist sights. You name it, we saw it. I got to feed the pigeons; my brother got to prance about on the stage at The Globe. I rowed us along the Serpentine; he swooned over the van Goghs in the National. In fact, the only thing that we both agreed was fabulous was the matinee performance of “Les Miserables” that we shelled out a small fortune to see. At first, I was just happy to take the weigh off my throbbing feet for a few hours, but I was soon engrossed in the story and weeping along with the rest of the crowd during the grand finale. It seems tourists really do know how to enjoy our city better than us!

Wembley is a suburb of London majorly populated by the people of Asian origin. Situated at the Northwest of London, Wembley offers several attractions to the visitors. In addition to its predominantly Indian (most coming from the province of Gujarat in India) population and their own intriguing ways of living in a British way, it is also home to famous Wembley stadium and Wembley Arena.

Close to the Wembley’s busiest tube station, Wembley Central, there lies a market similar to other high streets of London. However, the difference here is, it offers you a lot of stuff to let you taste buds kick in to action as there are several authentic Indian food joints. If you’re on a London visit and fancy some Indian delicacies, Wembley is arguably the best place to be at. What makes it even more special is the cost-effectiveness of the food you enjoy here. To state a fact I’d say, what you get at an ordinary central London Indian restaurant for £20, it won’t be a surprising to have the same food for under £8 at Wembley.

Other than food joints, there are several mobile unlocking shops, computer stores, and grocery shops selling almost everything ranging from Coconut Oil to premium single malt whiskeys. However, the main attraction of Wembley is the Wembley stadium which is a world famous football stadium. Characterized by its gigantic metallic structure, archway, it offers a beautiful view to the visitors even from a distance of several miles.

Wembley stadium is the second largest stadium in the entire Europe and has been at centre of attraction for all the football lovers from all over the world, leave alone UK. Its popularity can be understood from the fact that Wembley stadium is going to be the venue for football finals In London Olympics 2012.

To see how big a problem England’s most invasive plant is, you only need type the word Japanese into a search engine. This is swiftly followed by – if we’re using Google – Knotweed.

This, my friend, is a very big problem which has a grip on seemingly the whole of The Big Smoke.

An alien species that’s literally got the power to destroy anything in its path, once this nightmarish weed, straight out of some sci-fi horror story, takes a hold on the ground, you are in trouble. Growing at a miraculous rate and able to spread up to seven feet away from its original location, it’s a problem in every sense of the word, from inception to removal. To give you some idea of how much of a problem, the Olympic committee spent a good 4 years trying to eradicate it from the site of next year’s Olympic Games.

And it loves London, this stuff. If there is anywhere it loves it’s crowded suburban areas…areas where once upon a time it was safe to grow whatever you wanted, wherever you liked…

One thing to bear in mind, if you have a problem, is that it might not be just your problem. If this thing has stretched itself into the domain of your neighbour’s plot of land, you might be liable for a fine and a very hefty one at that.

it will plant itself in the ground there and cause mayhem all over again

Some simple facts about this stuff which everyone ought to know:

It is extremely tenacious and will nit be killed off just by being uprooted.

It’s illegal to dump this stuff anywhere else, as it will plant itself in the ground there and cause mayhem all over again.

If you have an infestation then you need professional help. Fast.

So, with this in mind, how does a Londoner get rid of this evil nemesis?

Well, one thing’s for sure, you need patience. It’ll also cost you upwards of £250 to have someone spray the ground with a good coating of toxic stuff for the plant to drink. You will also need time…because first the stuff needs cutting down and then you wait for the roots to return so you can give it a load more of this toxic killer stuff. Don’t think of it as a one-step process. Consider that it’ll need a few months at the least!

Otherwise, don’t get your Casual Fabrics in a twist! This stuff is stubborn, but us Londoners can beat it!

Are you of the opinion that London is a city fit for work related activities alone? Do you think entertainment is restricted to the big malls and entertainment plazas? Well there is more to fun activities in London than just visiting wellness water clinics and outlets. Want to know more?

London was the first metropolis of the world. It has been a bustling city for the past 3-4 centuries. One consequence of such a long history is the hidden attractions that just slip into the shadows. Try spending a vacation where you try to find such hidden attractions in London.

Where should you start? Start with old literature. Check out descriptions of London in books like Oliver Twist or The Great Train Robbery. Try to find the street that served as the foundation for the famous 221 Baker Street. The best thing about such activities is that you need not even get out of home. You can use your computer and the maps available online to do all your research.

Once you have the plan in mind, have a great picnic in and around London where you go around trying to find more about the city. If you live food, try to find out which place serves the best bacon sandwich. If you live history, try to find where famous artists used to congregate in the past. Once you begin, you will realize that London is far too big for any individual to fully explore in a single lifetime. I bet you will never look at London in the same way ever again.

So has anyone been down to the East End recently to see the shiny new Olympic development? Iwas visiting a mate who lives a couple of tube stops away the other day so we decided to go on an expedition and see what bits you can see over the huge security fences they’ve slapped up all over the place.

There were plenty of gaps for us to stick our nosey noses into, hoever, and some of the really big stuff is poking way over the fences now, so you can get a pretty good idea of what the area is going to look like when finished. And I have to say it’s looking pretty good. Kind of like the whole grubby area has had one giant microdermabrasion treatment!

I’ve been accused by friends of being a bit cynical about the Olympics, and I can see their point. I’m the only one who hasn’t applied for tickets and some of my friends have even gone further and signed up to be volunteers at the events! Though I suspect that they’re hoping they’ll get to see something for free by doing that. I don’t have the heart to tell them that they’ll probably end up cleaning out the weightlifters'toilets…

Once it all gets going, I’m sure I’ll get carried along by the party spirit. After all, some of the free cultural events surrounding the expensive sporty stuff sound great! I can see myself going to the gallery exhibitions and concerts and not even knowing who has won what gold medal.

London night life means bars, pubs and clubs. There are many bars, pubs and clubs in London which are meant for the ordinary people. But there are also clubs which the ordinary people can not visit because they are meant for the rich and the famous. These are the exclusive nightclubs. But even ordinary people feel like entering the nightclubs because there obviously is something special to attract the rich people. If not for something special, people want to enter them just to see the rich and more importantly the famous people. But entry to these nightclubs is very difficult, and one may end up spending what they would on London cheap flights. But here are some tips on how you can make an entry to these nightclubs and have an exclusive night.

These nightclubs generally have a very strict dress code. Your first step should be to decide what clothes to wear. You can not wear just anything and hope to make an entry here.

The best way to make an entry to these nightclubs is by registering your name in the guest list. For that you have to search for those companies which manage the guest lists of these clubs. If you can make a contact with a good guest list managing company and make a good rapport with them then you can get a very good discount on the entry fees. If you are a woman you can even get a free entry to the club.

Another thing that you can do if you have a little money is to book a table in these nightclubs. If you manage to book a table, know that your fees and well entry fees of 10 of your friends will be absolutely free. For table booking you can also contact the guest list making company as they have more hold over the clubs. They will also offer this service to you.

You can have the time of your life at these clubs with a bit of planning and it definitely won’t cost you a bomb then.
